Chat with Kurt Silcott, Live on NLL.com

This year the NLL has been hosting live chats with various personalities in the league. These chats, called ‘In the Crease’, are hosted on NLL.com and happen every Wednesday at 9pm EST.

Today’s chat will be with Roughneck General Manager Kurt Silcott. This could prove to be an interesting chat as many fans are in the hate phase of their love-hate relationship with Silcott after last weeks firing of Head Coach Chris Hall. If you’d like to take part in tonight’s chat, log in at http://nll.com/stats.php?ps=http://www.nll.com/chat—no password or registration is required—and feel free to watch or participate by asking some questions.

With the high level of emotion surrounding the Calgary Roughnecks I would only ask that anyone participating in tonight’s chat please keep their questions civil. If everyone can act and behave like adults while still asking the questions they want answers to this chat will be a success.

Calgary Fire Department and Calgary Roughnecks Teaming Up

As anyone that arrived before game time for the home opening game this year knows, the Calgary Fire Department and Calgary Roughnecks are teaming up to bring fire safety and awareness to the youngsters. The goal of the program is to create fire safety awareness through a content for children under the age of 12. Once the contest is complete, around the end of the lacrosse season, the prizes will be awarded.

Palidwor Moving to Edmonton?

There is a rumor going around the interwebs saying that our beloved former net-minder Curtis Palidwor will be making his way back across the border… to join the Edmonton Rush. Yes, you read that correctly, our provincial rivals will now have two former top players from the Roughnecks—Jason Wulder and Curtis Palidwor.

A quick check of the NLL website doesn’t list the transaction at this time. Speculation is that the trade between the New York Titans and Edmonton Rush give the Rush Palidwor in exchange for a 1st round draft pick as well as another conditional round draft pick in the 2007 draft.

Lacrosse featured on The Rick Mercer Report

Tonight, January 30th, 2007 Canadian funny man Rick Mercer will be visiting the Toronto Rock and featuring our national sport, Lacrosse. Apparently he gets right into the thick of things and don’s a full set of Lacrosse gear while he attends one of the Rock practices.

Rick’s show, The Rick Mercer Report, airs at 8pm tonight on CBC.

Home opener vs. the Stealth

It could have been so sweet… Captain Kelusky opened up the 2007 season scoring for the Roughnecks with his goal about 2 minutes into the first quarter. Finishing the game with 3 goals and 4 assists Tracey had a stellar performance as usual. Lewis Ratcliff proved again why he is quickly becoming my favourite Roughneck by topping the scoring with 4 goals and 4 assists. Kaleb Toth rounded out the top scorers with 2 goals and 3 assists. Kaleb’s slow start to last season was disappointing but it seems that he is planning against a repeat this season which is fine by me! The newbies even had strong starts. Susheski, whom we all hated last season, shone with his first hat-trick as a Roughneck. (more…)

A brief history of the Calgary Roughnecks

A short while ago, I met Kent Ridley on an online forum. We exchanged a few messages and he mentioned he was writing a history of the Calgary Roughnecks. The website he was going to post these articles on unfortunately ended up shutting down. Rids, as he’s more commonly known, asked if I would like to publish them on GoNecksGo.com and I was more than happy to oblige. Now, on with “A brief history of the Calgary Roughnecks”.
