And the West finally wins!
For the past several years the East has dominated the All-Star Game, this year things are different. It’s quite fitting really, especially given the parity of the league right now.
While the East did lead for most of the game our boys from the West always kept it a close game — even taking the lead a couple times in the first half. The third quarter was definitely controlled by the East.
With roughly 10 minutes left in the fourth is when the tides started to turn. Over the next 8 minutes or so the West managed to close the four goal deficit and tie the game.
With 27 seconds left in the game, the West pulled their net-minder for the extra attacker. That’s when our boy, Lewis Ratcliff, scored his fourth goal of the game with 4 seconds left on the clock.
Of course once the final four seconds had ticked away the West had their upset win. Up until that point Buffalo Bandit Mark Steenhuis was pretty much a lock for the MVP. By scoring the game winner Ratcliff sealed the deal and was awarded the MVP trophy by Deputy Commissioner and General Counsel George Daniel.
Our captain, Tracey Kelusky collected three points with 2 goals and 1 assist. Taylor Wray also managed a goal during the game but Kaleb Toth ended up goal-less for the day.
